If none of these solutions work, the last resort is to call in the experts. Indeed, if the insertion of the disc in an external support or via a new interface does not allow to Data Recovery Services, the disc is probably faulty.
Although there are a number of software that can – sometimes – recover certain data, none of them are really reliable if it is the hard disk that is in question. In cases where, for example, the latter is heavily damaged by fire, recovery software will no longer be really useful.
But all is not lost. Some professionals and experts offer data recovery service from failed and/or physically damaged hard drives. Against payment, the hard drives are sent to a laboratory where experienced professionals will find a way to recover all or part of the data.
The procedure is much more complicated and sometimes costs several hundred euros because it requires the disc to be opened in a clean room. So you have more chances that your data will be recovered but without any certainty. Unfortunately, in the case of a damaged hard drive, this is often the only option.
In short, it may happen that your hard drive shows signs of weakness or drops outright without warning. This can sometimes be due to a software failure or worse, a physical failure such as a partial burn or a shock. Fortunately, there are solutions for a more or less easy recovery of your data.
